RANDOM THOUGHT #6: GTA4 and Music

Okay, short post, but it's still awesome. Halfway through playing GTA4 again (because why not), specifically the mission where you have to chase two bikers down and kill them. I happen to like bikes in GTA4, so this was a fun mission. Got on the bike, turned to Independence FM (The custom radio station- I have it set to shuffle through my music collection) and promptly gunned down one of the bikers. The second, as three magazines of magazine fire will attest, was invincible. He dived into a subway tunnel, and I followed.

Just then, the song on the radio changed, to a Queen song. Normally, I'd change it, but in this case it seemed very apropos.

Speeding down a subway on a motorcycle, chasing another motorcyclist, dodging subway trains, listening to "Don't Stop Me Now" is now my favorite memory of GTA4.

To sweeten it even more, as I was riding home, a remix of the TF2 main theme came on (Duty Calls for 162 BPM), so I streaked across the bridge between Bohan and Alderney at 90 MPH, then hit a curb at the end and flipped ass over motorcycle (or more accurately, motorcycle over ass), met headfirst with a tree 25 feet up, and came to a safe (if battered) stop.

Best time ever.

LAAAAAAAG

Wow, OK, yeah. I am really bad at punctuality, I guess.

The past month, I've constantly been thinking of things that would make great blog posts. I then think, "Wow, that'd make a great blog post! I should do that!" And I promptly forget.

So yea. I'll see if I can't put some other stuff together soon. Maybe. I hope.

RANDOM THOUGHT #5: Red Faction: Doom Edition

Red faction is a series based around an evil corporation and an underground guerrilla army fought back and reclaimed Mars.

Red Faction: Armageddon takes place after the surface of Mars is wrecked. Humanity survives under the surface of Mars, slowly digging farther into the planet. Eventually, they find aliens, who attack them.

Allow me to count the "inspirations" I  note in the trailer.

25 sec: Game occuring in tight, cramped, badly lit environments. Just about every survival horror game ever made. Extending this to fiction in general, and we end up with ninety billion different "inspirations", though none so appropriate, perhaps, as Alien.
39 sec: Aliens found on Mars. Doom.
40 sec: "But the deeper we went, the closer we got to hell." Doom again.
50 sec: Mech suit. Fifty billion different anime and mangas, or Alien, again. Or The Matrix Revolutions.
59 sec: Using a wrist-mounted device to repair stairs. Singularity.
1 min 16 sec: Alien looks an awful lot like "The Bugs." Starship Troopers.
Tagline: "In space, nobody can hear you scream." Alien. Again.

So, either this game is going to be the bastard spawn of Alien, Starship Troopers, Singularity, the worst movie in the Matrix series and Doom, or it's going to be a derivative piece of crap.

Place your bets now.

RANDOM THOUGHT #3: Videogames As Art

WARNING: BORING ALERT

Here begins what will likely be the first in a long series of posts where I winge myself inside out trying to articulate my positions on various controversial subjects. Said viewpoints have probably been articulated much better by smarter indivdiuals than I, but hey, it's MY random thoughts!

Are games art?

RANDOM THOUGHT #2: SWAT teams = Awesome

According to TV Tropes, SWAT teams enter hostile zones by using flashbang grenades, explosives,

"Or by using any of a wide variety of more mundane methods of taking doors off their hinges and separating glass from windowpanes."

In other words, SWAT's more boring options for entering homes include ripping a window out with a battle-crowbar affixed to a pole.

SWAT (and tactical intervention teams in general- don't want to make enemies of the GIGN) are officially badass.

RANDOM THOUGHT #1: Introduction

So, uhm, hi, internet.

This is another stupid project of mine- basically, a repository of my thoughts. Funny ones, I hope.

Unlike many of my stupid projects, this one requires little to no effort and (might) have a decent payoff, so I might actually update once in a blue moon.
